I want to find some refreshing of existing areas. Perhaps a search to reconstruct run parts of Varrock down? Or help Port Phasmatys? Make the shops have a random rare chance to temporarily offer you some valuable thing or a sale on things in bulk for producing components to give Runescape gamers a reason to visit them. Matters such as the Burthorpe Games area are deader than dead. It's like they had a plan for this and dropped it.
They should be able to do something with Ashdale now. The sole reason they didn't earlier is because the Ashdale tutorial still existed up until September 2019. After September however, any of these accounts only get booted off to Burthorpe whenever they log in, so now Ashdale is real estate.
This might be the reason, but I think that they're still sort of at the"expansions" mindset, combining a lot of small updates into one large update with a whole lot of patch weeks between instead of pushing the smaller content updates along with the patches.To be fair, this is the way you get Runescape players to come back to your game. Nobody starts playing Runescape again because they published Ash trees, they start playing again because of large content releases like Menaphos. Chris Wilson of Poe celebrity includes a panel at which he talks about Runescape participant retention and what they've learned, and although people like seeing little content, it really does nothing for the longevity of Runescape match or retention of the Runescape player base.
Just like it used to be sure, but it should be a mix. 1 good big quest like While Guthix Sleeps or The World Wakes can be sufficient to draw people back if they are invested in the narrative. But there ought to be other little content developments between then - instead of holding back on creating a bunch of slayer mobs until they have time to develop a completely different dungeon, for instance, they could trickle out one or 2 every now and then in already-existing areas. Sure many people will not come back especially to try a new slayer mob, but it needs to be a balance between big and small content releases so that you've got the small content to maintain existing people playing and big content to attract back the infrequent Runescape gamers; right now they only seem to have big or patches, not far in the way of small content additions.
New Runescape player here. Can not relate whatsoever yet. Tons of stuff beforehand. It is like everyone is going the exact same direction. MMOs after a specific point seem to have these issues namely balancing issue, inflation, powercreep, obsolete content, focusing solely on attracting new Runescape gamers, screwing up things with badly implemented computer culture etc.. Seems like a issue that is very complicated. Which it is. MMOs feel like they will definitely collapse in their own weight after a certain threshold of expansion.
